Stan Lee’s business manager accused of elder abuse

ABC/Richard CartwrightLegal representatives of Stan Lee are accusing the comic-book legend’s presumed business manager, Keya Morgan, of elder abuse, Deadline reports. The judge granted a temporary restraining order until a July 6 hearing, blocking Morgan from contacting Lee or coming within 100 yards of him.

Tom Lallas, Lee’s former lawyer, said Morgan “is unduly influencing Mr. Lee and isolating him.”

“He has been denied contact with family members and other individuals that he has known and trusted over the years,” Lallas added. “Mr. Morgan relocated Mr. Lee from his family home into an unfamiliar environment without notifying relatives of his whereabouts.”

A statement from two of Lee’s other lawyers, Kirk Edward Schenck and Jonathan Freund, reveals that Lee “is in good health and great spirits after undergoing a very dangerous ordeal.”

It continues, “Stan Lee is excited to get back to ‘business as usual’ once he recovers from his recent ordeal, during which he felt compelled to take actions and make statements out of fear for his and his family’s personal safety,” the statement reads.

Earlier this week, Lee posted a video to Twitter, stating his allegiance to Morgan. “My only partner and business manager is @KeyaMorgan not all the other people making false claims,” the post reads.

One insider told Deadline that Morgan and Lee’s relationship was “a classic case of Stockholm Syndrome.”

Morgan’s entanglements in Lee’s affairs do not stop there. In May, he filed a suit on behalf of Lee, claiming the CEO of Lee’s former company, Pop! Entertainment, tricked him into signing away the rights to his own name.

Lee created or co-created some of Marvel’s most recognizable characters, like Spider-Man, Iron Man, Hulk, and The Avengers, in the 1960s. He founded Pop! Entertainment in 2001.
