Clayton originally started his broadcasting career at KORN in January 1993 as a part-time announcer.

In September of that same year, he took over as the full-time evening announcer from 6-Midnight. Clay worked evenings until the spring of 1994, when he moved to the Noon - 6PM afternoon slot and remained in that position for 13 years, eventually also becoming Program Director for KORN.

In 2007, he decided to try a career change and took a position with a local hospital. After encouragement by friends and family, Clay attended Mitchell Technical Institute and graduated in 2010 with high honors. He earned an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Computer Systems Technology. In 2011, Clay returned to broadcasting on Q107.3 and KORN News Radio.  Clay enjoys working mid-days on Q107.3, loves playing requests and hosting his weekly Top 10 countdown show Mick's Picks on Tuesday afternoons at 1PM. As morning show host on KORN News Radio, he has won multiple awards for his on-air interviews from Associated Press and Eric Sevareid Awards from the Midwest Broadcast Journalists Association.

Clay is a native of Tripp, SD and currently lives in Mitchell. His family includes wife Jill, daughter Elizabeth, stepson Patrick, and their yellow lab, Henry. He has a passion for music and plays guitar, mandolin and sings for local events and with the band Starfire.  He also has recorded several albums of original music.
